MEDICATED ASSISTED TREATMENT

One part of our holistic approach is fighting addiction with medication-assisted treatment.

MAT is defined by the FDA as the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat opioid use disorders (OUD) and other forms of drug and alcohol addiction.

We treat addiction with medicines that are approved by the FDA such as Bunavail, Zubsolv, Vivitrol, Sublocade and Suboxone to help you with your recovery.

BENEFITS OF MEDICATION-ASSISTED TREATMENTS

After your initial consultation with East Tennessee Recovery, you will be prescribed medication to ease withdrawal symptoms.  The medications mimic opioids by working with the dopamine receptors in the brain, but they do not have any narcotic effects. They help to ease your symptoms and make you as comfortable as possible while you experience withdrawal from opioid dependence.

You will develop a physical dependence to buprenorphine, but you will not experience cravings or compulsions like you did with opioids. Dependence is different from addiction. Addiction is a disease that negatively affects behavior. Dependence is a medically-treatable condition. It is important to understand that you are not trading one addiction for another when you begin MAT.

East Tennessee Recovery's overall goal is to help you achieve long-term recovery by providing the best proven drug abuse treatment options. In addition to MAT, our treatment plan will focus on mental health. Participating in both individual and group therapy will be important to your recovery.

Clinically Proven Results

Clinical research shows that MAT, when combined with counseling and therapy, can successfully treat substance abuse disorders. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) states that medication assisted treatment can also help to sustain recovery. MAT has been proven to significantly reduce the need for inpatient detoxification services and is an effective treatment for individuals addicted to opioids, prescription pain medication, and heroin.

We believe all of our patients can achieve long-term recovery from the disease of addiction by utilizing our clinically-proven holistic treatment programs.
